Has Iran Spent Any of $3B in New Cash on Terror? Obama Admin Says, "We Don't Know"
The Obama administration revealed Tuesday that Iran has been granted access to about $3 billion in unfrozen assets since the nuclear agreement was implemented, but it remains unclear if the Islamic republic has spent any of that money on funding terrorism.
When asked if Iran has spent this money on terror activities, State Department spokesman John Kirby told reporters, “We don’t know. We don’t have a way.”
Kirby reiterated that the $3 billion figure is an estimate at best, and they don't have "perfect knowledge" of what has actually been freed up for them or how every dollar of that is going to be spent.
On "Outnumbered," Meghan McCain said she could barely watch Kirby's press briefing, calling his comments "crazy" and "horrible."
"We may or may not be funding terrorism with the Iran deal, we may or may not be giving money to people that want to kill us," McCain said. "It is crazy. It is the number one reason why Obama's legacy will be such a huge failure, is this feckless foreign policy."
"This is something out of a bad movie."
Charlie Hurt pointed out that many people predicted this would happen following the "terrible" Iran nuke deal, which just adds insult to injury.
